Handling Instructions

The general handling instructions for our products are summarised below.
Handling instructions differ from one product to another; make sure you read the SDS of each product before handling it.

Precautions

When handling chemicals, appropriate protective clothing should be worn to prevent contact with clothing, skin, membranes and eyes.
Make sure you handle chemicals in a well-ventilated place. Ensure you install local ventilation equipment, seal the facilities or adjust the general ventilation.
In case of outdoor handling try, as much as possible, to perform the operation upwind.

Storage Precautions

Keep away from direct light and store in a well-ventilated, cool and dark place.
Store oxidising substances away from open flames or other sources of heat.
Avoid storing SUMICERAM products for a long period of time and pay attention to pot life (estimated usable period) and storage temperature requirements of 5- 10°C.
Since the alkali component in the ASAFINE C series is a deleterious substance it requires to be kept in a designated area.

In case of spill

If a small quantity is involved, after absorbing and removing the spilled substance with an absorbing agent (sawdust, soil, sand, waste cloth, etc.) thoroughly wipe the area with a cloth.
In case of a large outflow, secure the area with a rope to prevent people other than those who are involved in the cleanup to enter the area. Make sure you wear appropriate protective clothing to prevent skin and eye exposure to airborne droplets.
If a large quantity is involved, prevent further outflow by enclosing the spill using earth fill and treat it once it has been directed to a safe area.
When diluting with a large quantity of water, make sure the contaminated drainage water is treated appropriately before being released into the environment.

First-aid treatment

  • Skin contact
Wash the affected area with water and soap and large amounts of water.
Consult a doctor if you have symptoms such as skin changes or skin irritation.
  • Eye contact
Wash eyes immediately with large amounts of water for more than 15 minutes and consult a doctor.
Lift up the lids with your finger while washing your eyes and rinse your eyes until the eye ball and the lids have been thoroughly rinsed with water.
  • Ingestion
Rinse the inside of the mouth with large amounts of water. If possible, provoke vomitting by inserting your finger in the throat. Immediately seek medical attention.
